Information About Relationship Education

Information About Relationship Education
Invitations to look, feel, act and be sexy abound for todays teens. The youth of the 21st century are a seemingly sophisticated group who know whats hot and whats not. In addition, formal instruction on preventing unwanted pregnancy and reducing the risk of sexually transmitted disease is a well-established part of American curricula. One might conclude that there has never been a more enlightened and educated generation of young peoplea generation prepared for success in dealing with human sexuality and relationships.
However, a 2006 study prepared for the National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy suggests otherwise: Teens are street savvy about the attractions of sex and school-smart about its perils but increasingly uninformed or misinformed about the steps to building healthy relationships, now and in the future.
The report, Making a Love Connection: Teen Relationships, Pregnancy, and Marriage (Barbara Dafoe Whitehead and Marline Pearson), addresses the increasingly prolonged passage from adolescence to adulthood, a path on which young people are bombarded with unrelenting sexual messages.
The authors present a compelling case for a change in the current approach and curriculum for sex education: The U.S. has made remarkable progress in reducing teen pregnancy and birth rates over the past decadeteen pregnancy is down 28 percent and teen birth rates have declined by one-third. Yet more needs to be done. Too many teens are still getting pregnant and becoming young parents. One in three girls still become pregnant by age 20 and half of all first out-of-wedlock births are to teenagers. One out of five teen births are repeat births. Such high levels of teen pregnancy not only disrupt the lives of teens themselves; they also contribute to the persistence of maternal and child poverty, father absence and diminished life prospects for the children who are born to teenagers.
Are we overlooking something as a society in preparing our young people for marriage and family life? Is there a missing dimension in modern sex education programs? Have we unwittingly and unwisely established a pattern of teaching youths the subject of sex while neglecting to teach them about relationships?
Current sex education curricula emphasize health-based messages offering instruction in individual personal safety from disease and pregnancy, either through abstinence or contraception. Rarely are students given guidance on how to achieve and maintain responsible and respectful relationships. Authors Whitehead and Pearson argue convincingly that, in addition to teaching teens what to avoid, we need to teach them what to aim for in a fulfilling relationship. They suggest a shift in emphasis to a hope-based strategy that appeals to their aspirations for success in marriage and family life.
Surveys of high school seniors indicate that the vast majority believe marriage is extremely important and that they will marry in the future. Simultaneously, statistics provided by the National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy indicate that two-thirds of teens think its okay to have sex with someone for whom they have strong affection, or to live with someone outside of marriage. And nearly 60 percent of 15- to 17-year-old girls and 73 percent of those aged 18 to 19 approve of unwed childbearing.
Although teens surveyed continue to express a desire for success in marriage, they hold views and behave in ways that hinder their ability to achieve it. Whitehead and Pearson lament that many teens remain clueless about overwhelming evidence regarding the economic and social benefits of a low-conflict and long-lasting marriage: This body of evidence has been widely disseminated in the academic and policy world for more than a decade but it has not reached many of the nations classrooms or kitchen tables. Indeed, many teens hold attitudes that are directly at odds with the social science evidence.
Because of the casualness of contemporary sexual encounters, young people have come to see sexual activity as entertainment for players who participate at their own risk. Sex, in this context, is simply the pursuit of pleasure and lacks any larger purpose or meaning. According to Whitehead and Pearson, for many teens puppy love hasnt disappeared. Its been sexualized. Unfortunately, this leaves them unaware of the profound purpose of sex in solidifying loving and lasting marriage relationships.
The report advocates relationship education to fill the existing knowledge gap. It recommends teaching teens about healthy relationships and healthy marriages, and providing them with a success sequence for achieving their work- and family-related dreams and desires. Teens need to be given the knowledge base, practical skills and social support to help them navigate the transition from adolescence to adulthood, and parents should be engaged as first teachers.
Coincidentally, the emerging social science evidence is consistent with the Judeo-Christian ethic, which promotes sexual intimacy in the context of a committed marital relationship (Hebrews 13:4). Scripture presupposes that a man has the emotional maturity and economic means to manage the challenge of leaving his parents and cleaving to his wife (Genesis 2:24). Along with the benefits of a sexually intimate relationship in marriage comes the responsibility to provide stability and security for ones family (1 Timothy 5:8). In this sense, relationship education is not new!
Consider the potential of parents, church and school working cooperatively to teach young people the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual benefits of healthy, loving marriage relationships. Without this added dimension, sex education programs simply cannot provide teens with the vital keys they need to make one of lifes most important decisions.

Importance of Moral Education in Your Child?s Education

Importance of Moral Education in Your Child?s Education

Moral education is becoming an increasingly popular topic in the fields of psychology and education. Media reports of increased violent juvenile crime, teen pregnancy, and suicide have caused many to declare a moral crisis in our nation. Jean Piaget is among the first psychologists whose work remains directly relevant to contemporary theories of moral development. In his writing, he focused specifically on the moral lives of children, studying the way children play games in order to learn more about children’s beliefs about right and wrong. According to Piaget, all development emerges from action; that is to say, individuals construct and reconstruct their knowledge of the world as a result of interactions with the environment. Based on his observations of children’s application of rules when playing, Piaget determined that morality, too, could be considered a developmental process.

It’s not that only teachers in schools that can impart moral education to the children, but that the parents also play a great role in making the children aware of the importance of leading life ethically.

The most important assets of a nation are the citizens themselves. If the citizens are healthy, patriotic, honest, and sincere, the nation will progress at a much faster pace. For this reason, it is very essential to have moral education in schools and colleges. To impart moral education to students, there can be many ways – telling stories, preaching, group discussions, Yoga, and Meditation. To be an effective teacher, a combination of all these methods can be used. Many parents will attempt to moralize with children in abstract, moral discussions-suitably “watered-down,” or so they think, to meet their kids where they are. However, if research on cognitive development is at all correct, it is unlikely that children are being “converted” to a moral or religious stance. They may say “yes” and seem to get the point, but it is unlikely that they do.

A much better approach is to work on actions involving simple reciprocity, things like sharing of toys and friends. Young children are naturally egocentric. By involving them in such simple understandings as “you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours,” children come to see simple morality as pragmatic, paving the way for the later stages when formal reasoning makes children receptive to more abstract appeals. Children are by nature pure, sincere, and eager to learn. If the schools and colleges impart the moral character building values effectively, the purity of the students can be maintained and enhanced. Absorbing the moral values at an early and receptive age, will be very beneficial for the youth, and will in turn ensure that India has a shining future.

Educate Yourself About Your Credit

Educate Yourself About Your Credit
Have you ever heard of a credit report? You have probably been hearing about the importance of good credit for quite some time now.

However, you may not know exactly how you can achieve the good credit status that is highly sought after these days. One thing that you need to know is that you can actually use your credit report as a handy tool to help you build up or improve your credit score.

Basically, your credit report is a complete history and record of all of your loans, credit cards and so on. This report will include such information as your payment histories, where you have applied for credit, where you have applied for employment and more.

When you apply for credit or a loan somewhere, the lending agency will usually use your credit report to decide whether or not your history shows that you are worthy of the credit that you are requesting. The lending agencies will usually take a look at your credit report so that they can check and see what your history is in as far as making timely payments, credit lines you currently have, and to search for comparable credit limits.

For example, if you tend to have a good number of late payments listed in your credit report, they may be less likely to give you the loan or the credit card that you are requesting because they view you as a risk. Or on the other hand if you have an excellent payment history but only one credit card with a limit of ,000 and you are asking for a loan of ,000, they may turn you down for not having comparable credit.

In both instances you will probably need to ask someone to co-sign for you. A new practice has come into play where employers will even check your credit before deciding to hire you for a new job!

This can tell them if you are a responsible person with money. It might be defeating the purpose though, because some people get a job, or find new ones to make money to fix their credit.

So here we will discuss some ways you can make your credit report work for you to help you get out of the bad credit cycle.

Obviously, the main thing that you want to do is pay all of your payments on time. Next up, you will want to get your credit report or sign up for a program online that lets you view your credit report whenever you like.

This way, you can keep track of everything on there and make sure that all of the information is accurate. Checking for errors is a great thing to do as well because if there are errors, they are not your fault and they can easily be fixed.

If you find errors create a credit diary and start correcting those errors, make the necessary calls to clear those up so your credit looks better. If you are seeking a large loan, but don’t see a comparable credit line, start calling your current creditors and ask for a credit line increase.

It is important to note that you should not use this extra credit line, just have it increased so that when they pull your credit, they see a comparable line of credit. It may sound silly that you have to watch your credit report, but you would be amazed at the number of people who actually have errors on their credit report and they are completely unaware of it.

These errors can and will end up hurting in the long run, so it is always best to double check everything that is listed in your credit report. Also with identity theft on the raise, you really need to keep an eye on your credit report.

Don’t become a credit fraud victim. Start keeping track of your credit today…so you can put it to work for you tomorrow.

Your credit score, and history, is very important when it comes to your financial health. And especially now, if you even want to get a job!

So many people walk around without even knowing what their score is, or what their history looks like. Then they are unpleasantly surprised when they go to buy a car and find out they cannot get the best loan because of a poor score.

Alternative Education – The ADD Child

Alternative Education – The ADD Child

What educational format is best for the ADD/ADHD child? As a parent, there are many choices, and increasingly popular choices, to public education. While making a decision may seem more difficult in the case of ADD/ADHD, the process is the same for the parent of any child.

A recent article in USA Today reports that home schooling has been on a steady rise for the last five years. There are now 1.5 million children being home schooled, up 74% since 1999. A desire for religious or moral instruction, formerly the number one reason to choose homeschooling, is now the second most popular reason. The first reason is safety and avoidance of peer pressure and exposure to drugs. Third is the dissatisfaction with academic instruction and fourth is interest in nontraditional approaches.

Current statistics indicate that the number of alternative educational/school choices, not including religious based schools or military schools, is somewhere around twelve thousand.

That is the largest number of choices ever to exist outside the traditional public school system and the number keeps growing.

Obviously, the selection of public versus private includes many factors, among them the practical aspects of cost, location, transportation and does the alternative represent a basic ideology that the parent feels would be detrimental to the child. What follows is a look at some of the factors in choosing an educational format.

Determining the educational goal, as a parent, is an easy way to eliminate whole groupings of alternative educational choices. However, a parent might be wise to avoid automatically eliminating, for example, religiously based schools because they are simply not of the family’s religion. A school might be quite passive about religious “recruitment” of the child, as are many Catholic private schools, or they may be very active, even aggressive, in the “recruitment” of a child, as are many more fundamentally based religious schools. In one case, a parent chose such a school because of its educational quality but did not fully understand the aggressiveness of the school in converting her child to its belief system. At least not until her child started coming home every day, in tears, begging her mother to convert because she would go to hell if she didn’t. Upon further questioning, it was clear that the school had made the child responsible for the task of converting the mother. The child was nine. The mother moved the child the following week.

Next, we want to look at the child. It is imperative to look at the child from multiple perspectives, not just does he/she have ADD/ADHD. Because ADD plays out differently based on learning style, processing style and communication style, the parent should find the school that either actively teaches in a variety of styles or specializes in the styles that best enable his/her child to learn. The parent should also consider aspects such as the child’s emotional age and if the child has already found his/her passion(s) in life. If the child is brilliant in computer programming and development and could possibly be the next Bill Gates, the parent would be wise to enroll that child in a school program that specializes in dealing with technically gifted children, as long as all the other bases are covered. Personality and gender also play a role in the whole child. Finally, it is important to gravitate to schools that interweave the development of critical thinking with the development of personal responsibility.

Other things to consider:

· Does the child need structure or is he/she self-structuring?

· How well does the child function independently?

· Does the child have difficulty dealing with change?

· Does the child relate better to a male or a female teacher — or does it matter?

· What is the child’s social skill level with peers and, if this is a challenge, how does the school deal with those kinds of issues?

· What kind of participation is required of the parent, and is this level of participation possible within the framework of the entire family?

If the parents are investigating home schooling, there are some pros and cons to consider.

On the positive side, there are many educational support programs for home schooling currently available and more coming on line all the time. They vary in participation level needed by the parent. Just like shopping for a school, the parent needs to look for an education support program that will best work with the specific child and with the family. Home schooling can allow a child to learn at his/her own pace and can be creatively modified as the child goes on.

On the negative side of home schooling is the stress on the parents. Does the home schooling parent have a flexible teaching style and can that parent switch between the teaching and the parenting roles easily? The teaching parent should currently communicate well with the child and have been successful in helping the child learn new things and to develop new skill sets. As a simple measure, how has the parent done on helping the child with his/her homework to date? There may be resentment between parents caused by the time, energy, and effort required for teaching, on one hand, and by the resulting relationship with the child on the other. More effort will be required of the parents to ensure that the child gets both sufficient social interaction and is exposed to the diversity that the world has to offer, including opinions other than the parent’s own. Finally, can the parents help the child to develop the skill sets to manage well in the world when the home schooling ends?

Home schooling is a viable option. If the parents live in a big enough area, they are even likely to find local home schooling groups that do things together. The home schooled child may also attend a class here or there in order to fill out the educational experience. The parents need to make an extra effort in the area of social skills, to be wary of creating an unhealthy attachment or dependency on themselves and to guard against becoming insular in a way that limits the child in dealing with the ever-growing diversity of the world.

The key to finding a successful educational format for the child is for the parents to do their own homework! They need to determine what their educational priorities are and to diligently investigate their options in light of the whole child regardless of ADD/ADHD.

Trends In Tax Continuing Education

Trends In Tax Continuing Education

Continuing education (CE) is necessary for tax and finance professionals that provide services to the public. It is important that a practitioner have the necessary tools to complete their CE requirements, which is why new trends in the industry support enhanced knowledge in pertinent subject matters.

Online Education

Many practitioners lead busy lives both personally and professionally. As a result, individuals need the ability to enroll in distance-learning programs. Many jurisdictions are approving online continuing education courses for added convenience. Program sponsors are typically required to have their tax courses pre-approved in order for attendees to earn online continuing education credits. The providers must also supply an accurate course description, content overview and the amount of credits that are obtainable.

Online CE can be used in conjunction with a virtual classroom or for self-study purposes.

It is important to note that may states and organizations ordinarily require an examination in order to verify the practitioner’s assessment of the content. This ensures that the practitioner has actually completed the course.

Unique CE Opportunities

Practitioners are able to obtain free continuing education credit for teaching courses and/or publishing relevant works. The amount of research, preparation and time that goes into these types of projects is rewarded through CE credit. The research that is needed for published articles or books will touch on pertinent subjects that deal with financial planning and federal taxation, among others. In certain situations, a teacher can earn double CE credits during the initial presentation.

The majority of jurisdictions limit the earned credits to a specific percentage of the total CE hours needed.

Reporting Procedures

Many professional associations and state governments, as well as the federal government, are supporting online registration and reporting of CE credit hours. This not only reduces the amount of time and money that is spent on processing requests, but it also makes it easier for practitioner’s to submit their information and records.

Many organizations are allowing sponsors to submit Certificates of Completion through electronic means, which also make the record keeping and renewal process straightforward. In addition, many CE sponsors can register their online CPE courses for review online – providing practitioners with supplementary course selections, locations, content and dates.

Federal CE Changes

One of the most significant trends in CE is the federal government’s initiative to provide the public with qualified tax preparers. Any individual that accepts a fee for tax preparation services will now need to register with the IRS in order to be included in an approved database of preparers. The public will be able to verify an individual’s current standing quickly and will be able to see that they have met the guidelines issued by the IRS.

Because of the federal changes, a preparer will now need to obtain a Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN) in order to process tax returns beginning on January 1, 2011. In addition, a 15-hour CE requirement will now go into effect that must be satisfied on an annual basis. In order to complete the registration process, preparers will have to pay a .25 renewal fee.

An Impartial Report On Wela

An Impartial Report On Wela

I’m sure you’ve noticed how many new health and nutrition network marketing companies pop up from all over the place.

Lets have a look at Wela, this isn’t a brand new company but it hasn’t been around for that long. One of the co-founders and now CEO, John Penny was actually a former top earner in Vemma. He founded the company with the vision of its guiding values to be dignity, service, excellence, and stewardship. Also co founded by Ryan Bugard. So we have a good team here.

More About The Product

Their product is called Slimberry. It provides all the kind of benefits that you would expect from a product like this and one that is based largely around the famous acai berry. It will help you recover faster from exercise, build lean muscle, increase energy levels and also clean out toxins. Slimberry is a little different in that you don’t swig this out of a bottle, but it is a very concentrated liquid that comes in a small bottle with a dropper.

I’m assuming you drop it into water or fruit juice. This supplement sells per bottle for .

Will everyone make lots of money with this company?

Whatever network marketing business you’re involved with, no one can guarantee your success except yourself! There are many factors to consider, however with Wela they might be able to assist you in building your business. They will provide you with a fairly sophisticated website system that will have a lead generation page and also a tour so your prospects can fully educate themselves on the business. Wela’s system is better than average that’s for sure, most MLM companies hand out replicated websites but often they are not that effective. For those that want it, you can have leads sent to your system that are ‘guaranteed’ to take the business tour, there is a monthly fee for this though, the more leads you want the more it will cost you. There is a company that they use which generates leads, if they are specifically targeted to the company or just general ‘opportunity seekers’ I don’t know, it is quite a unique service though.

You still would be far better off generating your own leads for free though! (which I show you how to do at the bottom of this article)

A quick look at the comp plan

They use a binary pay plan so you have to build everything in two’s and you will have a left and a right team which you want to be as balanced as possible. You will need to be balanced to get paid. You may have heard of the term spillover payments, some marketers use this as a ploy to get people to enrol sooner rather than later. You can get paid on the efforts of people that you did not personally recruit. You will need to qualify for this though, which means you still have to bring in enough people yourself.

Is Wela A Legitimate Company?

Yes, it’s as legitimate as any other respected Network Marketing company, there is a real product here and a generous 65% payout compensation plan.

To become a top earner with this company then you need to come up with a way to get past your warm list and contact far more people about your business, as Mark Yarnell would say; ‘you need 30 a day’. It’s a good idea to have a sales process in place that will automate most of the process for you and earn you an income even from those leads who do not join your main business. Many marketers are still struggling in their business using the old fashioned techniques, which do work, but not for most.

New Orleans Education 3.0

New Orleans Education 3.0

After the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans school districts were in shambles. Eighty-five school districts were hurt by the natural disaster. A district called Jefferson Parish was granted twenty million dollars from Cisco to turn sixteen of its schools into models of the new education 3.0. Education 3.0 is a new model for schools that have full wireless connectivity, all new network upgrades, advanced classroom technology and upgraded date centers, plus a lot more. The education 3.0 is a total overhaul from the traditional school ways. Not only does education 2.0 incorporate technology into its classrooms, the classrooms revolve around it.

By having all classrooms and educational buildings begin to change to the new education 3.0 it will greatly impact learning on the 21st century student. Educators and officials need to realize that the 21st century kids learn different than back in the day and schools need to change their curriculums according to the new technological standards of this century.

How are schools going to prevent dropouts and prevent failure if they don’t catch the student’s attention? As much as we think that school is school and a student shouldn’t have to be entertained at school, its important for school officials to realize that maybe bringing in more interesting lesson plans will help the students to get better grades. Not only do better grades help the student but also it boosts schools ratings by having a majority of successful students.

With education 3.0 not only do the students reap the benefits from this, the schools do also. The more technology a school has to offer and the more technology it utilizes the smoother a school operates.

In turn a smoother operating school produces better jobs, better students and happier teachers and staff. Teachers are beginning to have fun while teaching and instead of the old, watch a lecture and take notes; every lesson now revolves around technology. Weather it be talking to a class while presenting a 3-d lesson plan, utilizing computers or the internet, using handheld technological devices to help assist with class work or something as small as a new projector to project information fro the internet, all of these assist education 3.0 in making the schools fully technological.

Education 10 was the basic lecturing in front of a chalkboard. The old education 2.0 was a program designed to incorporate 21st century technology into the classrooms. As this began to be a success, Cisco realized they needed to go above and beyond to make a real difference in student’s grades and demeanor while in school. While education 2.0 replaced chalkboards with projectors and educational software, education 3.0 replaced traditional projectors with 3-d projectors and glasses for all the students to be able to dissect a 3-d image.

Its so important for schools to change their traditional ways and fully make the classrooms based o0n technology, this world revolves around technology now and if students don’t have the correct skills technology wise, jobs will be hard to find.
